SJCS Mission & Vision
SJCS provides professional mainstream psychotherapeutic services to community members regardless of income, nationality, race, religion, social status and sexual orientation.
What is Counselling?
Counsellors help you identify and clarify your difficulties and issues on hand, then help you decide for yourself the best possible options for resolving your issues. Counselling is done through face to face discussions with a professionally trained counsellor. Counsellors do not tell you what to do nor point blame.
Counsellors are not medical doctors and are not able to prescribe medication. If medication is advisable, you will be referred to a consultant psychiatrist who is a medical doctor specialising in the management of psychological problems. They will determine with you if medication should be prescribed as well as the dosage and duration.
What Does SJCS Offer?
SJCS is a non-denominational service offering professional counselling to individuals, couples, families, teens and children. If there is a particular need for Christian counselling, we have some staff who can provide counselling with a strong spiritual focus.
SJCS Counsellors help people with a wide range of emotional difficulties such as grief, trauma, stress, depression, anxiety, communication difficulties, sexual difficulties, relationship issues, life goal planning, alcohol and/or substance abuse and child behaviour issues.
Counselling is available to everyone regardless of financial status, religion, nationality, race, social status, financial capability, and/or sexual orientation.
Everyone is charged a fee however we offer a sliding scale so this fee is negotiable (see Setting up a Meeting).
Who are our Counsellors?
SJCS has a roster of professionally qualified, multi-cultural and multi-lingual counsellors. SJCS Counsellors work on an appointment basis and are available days, evenings and weekends.
We also have counsellors working with children and teens in five international schools in Hong Kong.
