Getting Involved
On a weekend, 12 services are held at St John's and the Daughter Churches. Each weekday various services take place at St John's Cathedral. These are supported by a small army of people who assist in making the worship attractive and purposeful. Even before the doors open for the congregation to enter, people have made the church ready for worship. In the case of DB and Emmanuel they have transformed a school room into a place for worship. On Saturday mornings at St John's a small group of volunteers from the Flower Guild produce the most beautiful flower displays in the space of a few hours.
Each Sunday as people enter the churches they are welcomed, handed a book and shown where to sit.
During the service intercessors, readers, servers and chalice bearers all help to make the service flow
smoothly.
As people leave the Cathedral there is a welcome table for newcomers and, after the main services, refreshments are served. We are grateful for a small band of people who regularly bake cookies and cakes. All the above tasks are done voluntarily. Without these volunteers, we would not be a church.
If you are interested in getting more involved you may find the information below helpful. You are also welcome to contact the clergy directly.
