St John's Playgroup

There are two playgroups held on a weekly basis throughout the year, except for statutory holidays. Both Groups meet in the Fanny Li Hall of the Cathedral.
On Tuesdays everyone is welcome to attend the Group from 2:30 - 4:30pm. On Thursday Parents only are invited to attend the Group, also from 2:30 - 4:30pm. The Groups both take the form of free play followed by a story and singing session.

This group exists as much for parents as it does for the youngsters: children have the opportunity to interact and have a large, open space in which to run around, parents get the chance to socialise, swap notes and take a breather from the day-to-day routine. It has been a popular venue for new parents and newcomers to Hong Kong alike. We welcome children from birth up to four years old and provide a range of toys to suit all ages.

There are a number of ground rules that apply:

- Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the session on Tuesdays and a Parent/Grandparent on Thursdays.
- Parents are responsible for the safety of their children
- The cost of each session is $30 for 1 child, $50 for 2, payable at each session
- All attending are asked to participate and help in the activities of the Group including getting toys out and packing away, cleaning up after snack time etc

The St John's Playgroup represents fair value: it offers a degree of flexibility not available through similar organisations in Hong Kong. Being a non-profit-making organisation and operating on a purely voluntary basis, parents wishing to participate in the playgroup are expected to meet some of the responsibilities required to keep the group running.
