Resumption of Public Worship Services at St John’s Cathedral & Our Daughter Churches

Following the government’s amendments to the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) Regulation, the House of Bishops of HKSKH has announced the resumption of public worship services from 4th October 2020. Daily Eucharist at the Cathedral will start on Monday 5th October. The first Sunday worship will take place on Sunday, 4th October (Anticipated service on Saturday 10th October).

8.00am Said Eucharist (English)
9.00am Sung Eucharist (English)
10.30am Sung Eucharist (Mandarin)
11.45am Responsorial Eucharist/Choral Mattins
1.30pm Sung Eucharist (Filipino)
5.00pm Choral Evensong/Evening service in Taizé style (English)

The following measures will take place when attending services. Please follow the directions of the Sidesmen.

  • If you are unwell, please stay home to rest and participate worship online.
  • Your body temperature will be measured. Please clean your hands with hand sanitiser upon entry.
  • Please enter the cathedral by the West Door, and exit via the side doors.
  • Please wipe your seating area with disinfectant wipes before sitting and when leaving. The cathedral will be disinfected between services as well.
  • Social distancing will need to be maintained between people not from the same household.
  • Please wear masks throughout the services.
  • Holy Communion will be received in one kind only - the Body of Christ.
  • Only 50% of the seating capacity will be available. Li Hall and Harold Smyth Room will be open as overflow areas.
  • No Sunday School and fellowship gatherings will be held and no refreshment will be served at this time.
  • Collection will be received at the doors to support the work of the church.
