Offer Our Time & Talents

Each Sunday as people enter the Cathedral and its daughter churches, they are welcomed, handed a book and shown where to sit.

During the service, intercessors, readers, servers and chalice bearers all help to make the service flow smoothly.

All the above, together with other tasks, are done voluntarily. Without these volunteers, we would not be a church.

If you are interested in getting more involved you may find the information below helpful. You are also welcome to contact the clergy directly.

Cathedral Minders

The Cathedral remains open on public holidays when our staff are taking time off. Volunteers are invited to help mind the church on such occasions. If you are interested in joining our Cathedral Minders, please contact Mrs May Ho.

Flower Guild

This is a group which arranges flowers for the Cathedral every week (except Advent & Lent). They also provide a service for weddings & other special occasions.

The Flower Guild is administered by the Executive Administrator of the Cathedral Office.

Music Ministry

Music takes an important place in, and is essential to the worshipping and educational life of, the Cathedral. Please click here for more information about the Cathedral Music Ministry.

The Servers Guild is a voluntary group assisting with all services at the Cathedral.

Servers help the officiant at each service by:

  • Preparing the altar
  • Checking the correct books are available
  • Leading procession
  • Presenting the offerings to the priest
  • Administer the Chalice at the Eucharist (after being specially licensed by the Bishop)

The Head Server is Mr James Choo.

These are appointed at the Annual Church Meeting held each April or May. Volunteers are welcome.

Duties include:

  • Greeting the congregation at the door
  • Giving out books
  • Taking the collection
  • Ensuring the smooth running of the service

The Head Sidesman is Mr Frank Lang. Enquiry: 2523 4157.

Dedicated to the ministry of service and hospitality, the Welcomers help promote the culture of a welcoming church by enhancing fellowship among members of the Cathedral, regular or new or casual visitors, to mingle and connect. You may find them in the Li Hall every Sunday after the 9am service.

The team is currently under the leadership of Mrs Mary Szeto.
