The Very Revd Kwok-keung Chan

The Very Revd Kwok-keung Chan (KK) is the Dean of St John’s Cathedral since 1st May 2021. Before his appointment in the Diocese of Hong Kong Island, he was the Dean of Holy Trinity Cathedral, Diocese of Eastern Kowloon. 

Dean KK has been involved in various ministries in the Provincial and Diocesan levels in the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui. Currently, he is a member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Commission on Education, and Honorary Secretary of the Commission of Examining Chaplains, and the Provincial Nomination Committee. He also serves in the Commission on Constitution and Canons and is a representative in the Church Body of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui.

KK has been trained for ordination at Ming Hua Theological College, HKSKH and started serving the Church of HKSKH in 2007. His curacy was completed in Holy Carpenter Church, followed by his appointments as the Chaplain, Sub-Dean and Dean in Holy Trinity Cathedral respectively. He was also the priest-in-charge of St Augustine’s Chapel.

Before ordination, KK was the Discipline Master and a teacher of English as a second language in SKH Good Shepherd Primary School (P.M. Session). During his service in the Diocese of Eastern Kowloon, he has been the chairman and supervisor of several primary schools and kindergartens. He was also a member of different school councils for over ten years. He was the Chairman of the Anglican Primary Schools Council from 2021 to 2024.

In social services, KK is appointed a member of the Elderlies Home Management Committee, HKSKH Welfare Council. He has been involved in various projects promoting the collaboration between the Church and the Welfare Council. He is also a Board member of the Hong Kong Bible Society.  He is now serving at the Hong Kong Christian Council as an executive committee member.  Representing the Council, KK has been elected as the Honorary Treasurer of the Christian Conference of Asia (CCA) since 2023.

KK is married to Emmy, a registered social worker who serves in the Integrated Home Care Services of HKSKH Welfare Council. Their son Gideon is studying Psychology in university.

During leisure time, KK enjoys watching movies, hiking and playing ball games. He likes meeting up with friends as well as singing.
