The Revd Francis Yu

The Revd Francis Yu

The Revd Francis Yu joined the clergy team of St John’s Cathedral on 1 January 2026, serving as Chaplain with particular responsibility for the Chinese and Youth Ministries.

Fr Francis received his early education at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology before undertaking theological studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he was awarded a Master of Arts in Christian Studies. He continued his formation at HKSKH Ming Hua Theological College, graduating with a Master of Theology from Charles Sturt University.

Fr Francis began his ordained ministry as a curate at St Stephen’s Church in 2022, prior to his current appointment.

He delights in the Church’s ‘bells and smells’ and is convinced that good liturgy is never merely aesthetic, but a profound expression of the Church’s faith, shaping both heart and mind. In a time of rapid change and uncertainty, he believes that thinking theologically and living sacramentally are more important than ever.

Fr Francis lives in Hong Kong with his wife, Ivy, and their two children. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, spending time in nature, and learning about stargazing.
